Notes. Sauron was seduced by Melkor at the beginning of the first age. Sauron came to the elves of Eregion in the beautiful form of "Annatar" (the Lord of Gifts), and started to create the rings of power. One of his students was Celebrimbor , who created the three Elven Rings without Sauron's influence.

In Tolkien's stories, Celebrimbor was an elven-smith who was manipulated into forging the Rings of Power by the Dark Lord Sauron, in disguise. Sauron then secretly made the One Ring to gain control over all the other Rings and dominate Middle-earth, setting in motion the events of The Lord of the Rings.
